Bad-Boon Strikes Back v4.0 (abbr. as BBSB4) is the sixth and latest release of Bad Boon Strikes Back, a pack developed by KartingKoopa, which released on August 12th, 2023.

It features 60 unique stages that are distributed across Beginner (Extra) and Advanced (Extra), as well as 6 custom world themes of which 4 appear at different times of day. Story Mode was originally planned to be included as well, although it would've consisted of World 1 only (just like in v3.0) due to this update's focus on Challenge Mode.

The download also comes with an info booklet in the form of a .pdf file.

Differences from v3.0[]

  • Koopa Island: The island has been inhabited: A street, four houses and rows of bushes all make up the shape of a Koopa Troopa shell. The ocean water now flows, and on it two ships can be seen faring around the island, one of which is the Daisy Cruiser. A windmill park has been placed in the ocean as well.
    BBSB4 Grand Makeover

Comparison between the old and the new Grand Metropolis stage textures on Inwards

  • Grand Metropolis: The prerendered sky texture has been replaced and now more accurately represents the source material, with the help of a transparent cloud texture, also taken from the source game. Hovercars can now be seen running across the sky, right above the central area. Stages in this theme have received new and improved textures: The floor textures are cleaner now, and the ceiling textures now fit the theme better, as well as providing more variety.
  • Egg Fleet: The distant skyline and the surface below now seamlessly flow into each other. The sky itself has received a gradient so that it doesn't look as flat anymore. The surface now moves in the opposite direction of where the fleet is pointed at, to create the illusion that the fleet is actually travelling somewhere. Massive flames are now coming out of the rocket nozzles of nearby red ships.
  • Orbital Terminal: Formerly called Space Dimension. Stages are now placed inside a massive spherical metallic structure, which slowly rotates around an imaginary axis which runs through where the structure intersects with itself. The space texture is now greener, and the moon is no longer yellow.
